Warner Norcross was ranked among large employers for its commitment to work-life balance, workplace flexibility and excellent compensation and benefits package.  Recognition on the list was based on several factors includingcommunicating with employees, attracting talent and creating a positive environment.  This is the fifth year the firm, which has eight offices in the state, has been included on the Crain’s list.

Crain’s Detroit asked employees to nominate their company back in the spring.  Companies receiving the best nominations by their employees were then given the opportunity to complete a survey administered by the American Society of Employers, which was further evaluated.

The survey ranked Warner Norcross, which has eight offices across Michigan, among the leading mid-size employers in the state.  Hundreds of companies were nominated for the award, which evaluated career opportunities, compensation and benefits, management, direction and related areas.  This is the sixth year that Warner Norcross has been on the annual list.

Attorneys and staff from each of the firm’s offices were surveyed for the award.  They gave Warner Norcross high marks for offering alternative work arrangements, job sharing, telecommuting, flexible schedules and a compensation system that promotes teamwork.  The law firm was also noted for its strong commitment to philanthropy.

Warner offices in Southeast and West Michigan have both been honored repeatedly in the 101 Best & Brightest Companies to Work For.

Movember

Movember is the global men’s health charity where men grow and women support the moustache during November. Participation begins once you sign up and become part of the official movement to change the face of men’s health. Movember is about bringing back the moustache (Mo), having fun, creating conversations and awareness and raising funds for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health problems.
The Southfield community is getting involved by decorating their doors. From the Public Library to the Burgh House, you’ll be seeing the Movember style all around town. Collins Einhorn Farrell PC, a Southfield-based law firm, recently completed some extensive office renovations. To accommodate their rapidly expanding legal staff the firm, located in the 4000 tower of the Town Center, updated their ninth floor office, in addition to adding space on the tenth floor.Collins Einhorn 1

The firm specializes in several practice areas professional liability, general liability, insurance, environmental, fire and explosion, employment, workers compensation and appellate.

The 42 attorneys and their clients now enjoy two new entrances, one on each floor, an elevator lobby waiting area featuring a “floating receptionist desk,” new security system/doors, passkey system, in addition to a refinished hallway, four new conference rooms with a large board room and expanded kitchen area.

The focus of these renovations was to exhibit a progressive style that is open and welcoming while maintaining a professional atmosphere. Ford Motor Co. and Lawrence Technological University (LTU) have again teamed up for the “Designing for the Future” competition that asks students to reinterpret the Ford Cortina for the year 2030. The prizes include more than $100,000 in scholarships.

The competition is open to high school seniors or transfer students interested in enrolling in LTU’s transportation design or industrial design programs in fall 2015. For more information, go to www.ltu.edu/architecture_and_design/design_competition.asp.

Two student projects at Lawrence Technological University have won $25,000 Ford College Community Challenge (Ford C3) grants that promote sustainability and innovation.

In all, the Ford Motor Company Fund, the philanthropic arm of the Ford Motor Company, is awarding $280,000 in Ford C3 grants to 16 student-led projects focused on building sustainable communities. The program, which is now in its seventh year, includes international projects in Brazil and China for the first time.

The Ford C3 grant winners have presented proposals for sustainable projects with significant student input, involvement and leadership. Water conservation, renewable energy, urban gardening, recycling and transportation are among the proposals submitted by these creative teams of students.

“Educating the next generation of leaders is at the center of Ford Fund’s commitment to a better world,” said Jim Vella, president of the Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. “Education, innovation and sustainable solutions is a powerful formula for success in our communities, and will help future engineers, managers and entrepreneurs build a solid foundation for the careers of tomorrow.”
